RIFAXIMIN 400MG

Description

RIFALIV-400 contains 400 mg in a pack of 10*10 Alu. Rifaximin is a drug prescribed to manage infectious traveller’s diarrhoea, hepatic encephalopathy, and diarrhoea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-D). Traveller’s diarrhoea refers to frequent loose stools caused by infection. Hepatic encephalopathy results from liver injury and the inability to remove toxins in the bloodstream, which impacts brain function. IBS-D is a gastrointestinal disorder that affects the large intestine and causes diarrhoea.

Working of Rifaximin

Rifaximin acts in the intestines to prevent the multiplication and proliferation of pathogenic bacteria by keeping good gut bacteria in balance.

Side Effects of Rifaximin

Certain side effects can include headache, swelling in the legs, nausea, dizziness, weakness, fluid retention in the stomach (ascites), and increased liver enzymes (such as ALT). These are typically mild and resolve without treatment. Nevertheless, discuss with your doctor if they persist or worsen.

Directions For Use

Take rifaximin by mouth, with or without food, as directed by your doctor. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. To reduce the risk of getting the wrong dose, try to take it at the same time every day. Don’t chew, crush, or break the tablets.

Precautions To Be Taken

Prior to the administration of Rifaximin, notify your physician if you have allergies (particularly to antibiotics) or if you have kidney or liver problems. Rifaximin should not be used for longer than 3 days except on the advice of your physician. Notify your physician if you are pregnant or lactating. Rifaximin is not suitable for use in children since its safety and efficacy in this age group have not been established.
